International attention is turning again to the USA and INTERCEM Americas 2015 will bring you right to the heart of the US industry, with the market-leading industry updates, market insights and networking opportunities that delegates have come to expect from the “world’s leading cement industry event”.

The conference will take place against the background of a higher growth phase of economic recovery across the USA, where cement demand is set to increase in light of a pent-up demand for infrastructure investment, housing and commercial development.

With high capacity utilisation (approaching 90%) across US plants, it seems clear that demand is soon likely to outstrip current capacity. This scenario will see companies evaluating how best to bridge this deficit; by reopening idle plants or by importing cement and clinker? A return to imports is seen by many as the best option with the stronger US Dollar, excess capacity abroad and low freight rates making a far more palatable option to the capital cost of reopening older plants and bringing them into line with new EPA regulations.

According to PCA estimates presented by Ed Sullivan at the INTERCEM 30th Anniversary Conference in London in June, by 2019 imports could fulfil as much as 20% of US cement needs, a percentage share not seen since 2007, and more than double the projections for 2015 / 2016 (9%).

Across the country, companies are preparing for this influx of cement and clinker, terminals are reopening and new import facilities are being built.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, cement demand is expected to continue to increase (Exane BNP Paribas estimates growth in the region of 18% to 2020), however, growth in the largest market in the region, Brazil, is expected to slow over the coming years. The conference will look across all key markets in the region and at the opportunities and challenges producers and traders are likely to encounter in this changing market scenario.

If you want to know what is really happening in the US industry,  the implications of cement and clinker imports to the US, or want to make the business networks to stay ahead of your rivals, only INTERCEM will bring you right up-to-date and make sure that you are equipped with the latest facts, figures and connections, not just for cement trading but across your entire production and supply chain.

INTERCEM is the world’s first and best-attended dedicated independent international conference dedicated to the global cement industry. Celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2015, we have held conferences in the Americas region since the late 1980s and throughout the economic crisis of recent years.

Miami is a fitting host for INTERCEM America’s in our 30th Anniversary year. This will be the 5th INTERCEM Conference to take place in the “Gateway to the Americas”, tying with Cairo, Egypt for the most INTERCEM meetings hosted, outside our ‘home city’, London.

We hope that you will be able to join us in the Sunshine State for this year’s INTERCEM Americas.
