INTERCEM, the leading conference for the global cement community, opened its Asia meeting on Tuesday morning at the Pan Pacific Hotel on Marina Square in Singapore. Close to 200 delegates from 37 countries were in attendance at the opening address given by INTERCEM Chief Executive Malcolm Shelbourne. The ASEAN region is enjoying an improving market for cement and building materials stimulated by long term infrastructure and housing development closely connected to demographic fundamentals. The first session concentrated on providing delegates with a complete overview of the current regional economic status and prospects for cement demand.
